OUR TOOLS

3D Printers

The multidisciplinary research staff of NEMO Lab, in close synergy with the clinicians of the NeMO Centers (located in Milan, Arenzano, Rome, Naples, Brescia, Trento, Ancona, and Messina), aims to design, implement, and adapt orthoses and aids innovative customizable with to favor and promote musculoskeletal functions through advanced technologies.

The development and manufacture of smart orthoses and tools to effectively improve the musculoskeletal functions of patients with neuromuscular diseases require the use of 3D printing, which is increasingly becoming a “booming technology” also in the field of medicine and tissue engineering.

Thanks to the collaboration with the Institute for Polymers, Composites and Biomaterials (IPCB) of the National Research Council (Lecco district) we have the opportunity to innovate in the material field and count on a larger set of 3D printers, some of which are listed below:

We won "Get It, Twice!"

Ortho Lab applied for Switch2Product on July 2020 with the first project of an adjustable cervical collar born as part of a Master’s thesis in Integrated Product Design at Politecnico di Milano together with Centro Clinico NeMO Fondazione Serena OnlusNeMO Lab, and the Institute for Polymers, Composites, and Biomaterials (IPCB) of the National Research Council.

We are happy to share that during the final of the Switch2Product competition organized by Politecnico di Milano, PoliHub – Innovation Park & Startup Accelerator, and Deloitte we won the special “Get It! Twice” with the Fondazione Social Venture GDA for the social impact that the Ortholab project will be able to promote!

Survey adl

Activity of daily life survey for caregivers and patients

The purpose of the survey, in partnership with Centro Clinico NeMO and Ortopedia Castagna, is to explore the experience of patients, and their caregivers, on facilitation aids of daily living activities available on the market or specially created. These informations will be useful for us in order to guide our research activities to respond better to the unmet needs of people suffering from neuromuscular diseases and their caregivers.
